Used the CAT 424 a lot lately, mostly for load shifting and digging. The engine got some tweaks, you can feel it's a bit smoother than before and there's less vibration. Love that the service cost is way down now - engine oil and transmission oil amounts are less, so I don’t dread oil changes like before. That said, some stuff could be easier to access, especially the battery since it's on the side now. The dual pump system is handy, but I wish the electric activation felt less laggy. Comfort level is good, seat’s alright for long hours but still kinda stiff after half a day, not gonna lie. Overall, not a bad update, just don’t expect everything to be perfect right out the gate.

So I tried out the Caterpillar 424 for a few weeks now, mostly for loading and dosing jobs, and my first impression is that the thing's got a noticeably better dump height and reach than the old 420 I used to run. Super handy on tighter sites. Loader bucket can go pretty high, actually fits under some taller trucks I usually have trouble with. The engine's quiet and feels like it pulls a bit harder too, which is cool. That new eco mode is interesting, not sure I'm a fan though - sometimes I want full juice and it sort of holds back a bit. The cab is way quieter, even without the AC running, and the windows actually stay where I put them (my last machine was a pain for that). Daily service stuff is way easier to get at, no more squeezing in stupid spots just to top off the fluids. Only gripe is the air ducts - there are plenty, but they kinda blast one spot and the rest of the cab stays hot. Not a huge deal but you notice after a long day.

I’ve driven the Caterpillar 424 for a couple of projects recently. The operational performance is solid, with great hydraulic flow rate making tasks quicker. However, sourcing parts can be cumbersome in certain regions, which might lead to downtime that isn’t ideal. The machine itself handles well, and the comfort during prolonged usage is commendable.

Had a chance to operate the Caterpillar 424 recently. It performs tasks well under stressful conditions, but one aspect to consider is its battery placement, which can be slightly inconvenient for quick access. The hydraulic systems operate efficiently, and I seldom faced downtime. The seat provided reasonable ergonomics, though improvements could be considered. Overall, it’s dependable and fairly economical in operation.

I used the Caterpillar 424 for several months on various projects, and overall, it’s a solid piece of machinery. The controls are responsive, making tasks straightforward to manage. The engine power supports demanding jobs effectively, although the maintenance frequency is a little more than expected. Its cabin design is functional and offers acceptable comfort for extended use. However, I found that the diesel consumption might have room for optimization compared to similar models.

Used the Caterpillar 424 for a few weeks now. The operating weight of 7900 kg gives it a really stable feel, even under heavy load. The 3.6 turbocharged engine ensures sufficient power, though I sometimes notice a minor delay in throttle response. Spare parts availability can be challenging, affecting quick repairs in some cases. Overall, it’s a dependable backhoe, and understanding its quirks makes using it practical.

Short, from the seat: cab and controls are friendly. Front window opens, good visibility to the bucket and behind. Seat is soft, material feels decent and the layout makes mounting and getting off easy. Handbrake and electric activation work like you'd expect, battery access is on the side so servicing the battery is simple. Transmission controls are straightforward, there are useful locks and storage spaces for tools/papers. Rear controls are easy to reach, and the counterweight and dust-clean features cut down the usual headaches with dirty jobs.

Things I don't love: some switches feel cheap and the company trimmed a few bits compared to older models - you notice it if you compare side-by-side. Still, for daily work the operator area is comfortable and the controls are tidy. Good for long shifts.

Had the chance to work with the Caterpillar 424 for a couple weeks now. It's got notable enhancements, especially on fuel efficiency with that Smart Eco Mode-really helps in reducing costs without compromising much. The loader arm's design is strong and delivers effectively, though I felt the grip could use a touch of refinement when operating over extended hours. Overall, it's a solid machine for task-intensive operations.

Ran the 424 on a few different sites in the last month. They finally made hydraulic oil changes less frequent - helps big time with downtime, though I still think the controls could be snappier. Transmission’s easier to deal with now, shifting is smoother, though the new window system feels a little odd at first. Easy to stand or move behind the cab, which is nice when quick checks are needed. Machine feels safer, rollover protection is better than the old ones. But the seat feels about the same, average comfort. Don't expect miracles but the maintenance side improved for sure.

I've spent quite a while running different backhoes and tried the CAT 424 for about 6 months now. The biggest thing is the power-engine just puts down a lot more grunt than most. That electronic turbo engine really feels responsive. Weight feels good too, pretty solid machine, doesn't get jumpy even loaded. But, honestly, getting parts is a pain sometimes. They're built strong, sure, but if you do break something, that wait for parts can slow down a job. Not much for after-market stuff either so you're stuck with dealer prices, which hurts the wallet. Comfort is alright, controls are familiar if you've driven CAT stuff before, but might feel a bit weird if you jump from another brand. Maintenance is a bit more expensive than JCB or whatever too. Wouldn't say it's perfect, but it's got that CAT quality for sure. Worth it if you're not worried about waiting for parts.
